Passage Width & Space Requirements
Before planning where Kachaka will work, confirm two things: whether the passages it travels with a shelf are wide enough, and whether the overall size of the space will affect its positioning accuracy. This page covers passage width, making the most of small spaces, and the difference in usable area between the standard model and Kachaka Pro.
Minimum passage width with a shelf
While carrying a dedicated shelf, Kachaka can travel through a passage as narrow as 65 cm.
The one exception: if that 65 cm passage ends in a dead end (the robot cannot drive straight through and out, and would have to turn around in place), there is not enough room to rotate with a shelf loaded. In that case, leave a wider passage or route the robot through a path with an exit.
When planning routes, keep both sides of main aisles clear so temporary clutter does not reduce the usable width. If the robot repeatedly stops or backs off at a particular narrow spot, see No-Go Zones and Enterable Areas to adjust where it is allowed to travel.
Works even in small homes
Kachaka works fine even if your home is not large.
You can take it a step further and use a Kachaka dedicated shelf as a movable storage cabinet: park it against a wall or in a corner most of the time, and have the robot bring the whole shelf to you when needed. The same floor space serves as both storage and a travel path, making a small space work harder for you.
Large spaces and accuracy: standard vs Kachaka Pro
The size of the space affects the robot’s self-positioning accuracy:
- Standard Kachaka: if any single side of the space exceeds 20 m, positioning accuracy may drop.
- Kachaka Pro: has no such limit and runs reliably across large areas such as factory floors and office buildings. It is the primary model for commercial deployments in Taiwan.
In open spaces that lack features such as walls and furniture, stopping accuracy is naturally looser than in a feature-rich environment (see Stop Position Accuracy).
