Multiple Kachakas Colliding (Pro)
When you run several Kachaka Pro robots in the same space at once, they may bump into each other. This happens because the robot’s laser sensor is mainly used for localization and avoiding fixed obstacles — the laser sensor alone cannot reliably avoid another Kachaka that is also on the move.
To let multiple robots share the same area safely, apply one (or a combination) of the following anti-collision measures, depending on your site.
Option 1: Run with a shelf loaded and enable Protruding Obstacle Detection
Have the robot travel while carrying a shelf, and turn on Protruding Obstacle Detection. Once enabled, the robot detects objects protruding ahead of and above it and actively steers clear — helping it notice another robot earlier when their paths cross.
Option 2: Enable Floor Obstacle Detection
Turn on Floor Obstacle Detection. The robot uses its camera to detect obstacles on the floor ahead and either steers around them or stops. With several robots running at once, this adds another layer of real-time avoidance.
Option 3: Separate outbound and return paths with driving routes
The most effective root-cause fix is to keep each robot’s path from crossing the others’. Use Setting Driving Routes to assign different routes for the “outbound” and “return” legs — for example, having each robot keep to one side of a corridor — so the two robots never meet head-on.
Option 4: Give each robot its own travel area
Assign each Kachaka its own travel area, and on every robot’s map mark the other robots’ travel areas as No-Go Zones. This way the robots’ travel ranges never overlap, preventing them from meeting in the same passage in the first place.
Tips
- These measures can be used on their own or combined to suit how complex your site is. The larger the space and the more robots you run, the more we recommend applying both root-cause fixes — separated routes and divided travel areas — together.
- Detection features (Protruding Obstacle, Floor Obstacle) must be enabled per robot in the app, so make sure every robot has the same settings applied.
