First-Time Setup: From Unboxing to Your First Delivery

Just got your Kachaka or Kachaka Pro? Follow these 8 steps to go from unboxing all the way to your first delivery. Each step has its own dedicated page, so click through whenever you need the details or get stuck. We recommend doing them in order — if an earlier step isn’t finished, the next one often won’t work.

Step 1: Power On and Charge

Plug in the charging dock and let Kachaka charge up before you start. Press and hold the power button on the robot for about 3 seconds; once the LED ring lights up, it’s on. For power and LED details, see Power On and Off.

Step 2: Install the App

All setup happens in the phone app. Search for and install the Kachaka app from your app store, and check that your phone’s OS version is supported. For download links and supported OS versions, see Install the Kachaka App & System Requirements.

Step 3: Create an Account

Logging into the app requires a Kachaka account, which you can create with an email address or a social login (Apple / Google). Verify your email and you’re ready to sign in. For the steps and what to do if the verification email doesn’t arrive, see Create a Kachaka Account.

Step 4: Connect to Wi-Fi

The app generates a QR code for Kachaka’s camera to scan, which completes the connection. For the steps, see Setting Up and Changing the Wi-Fi Connection.

If the scan won’t go through, it won’t connect after setup, or the app keeps showing a connection error, start with Wi-Fi Setup Fails or Cannot Connect After Setup. A common cause is a router guest network or privacy separator — see Router Privacy Separator Blocking & Ping Test. You don’t need to redo the earlier steps; just work through the checklist.

Step 5: Build a Map

Once you’re on Wi-Fi, let Kachaka scan your space into a map so it knows how to get around. Clearing the floor, opening doors, and keeping the area well lit all make mapping smoother. For the steps, see Creating a New Map; for accuracy tips, see Map Prep and Accuracy Tips.

Step 6: Add Destinations

With the map built, mark the spots you’ll use often (living room, kitchen, front desk, and so on), so you can tell Kachaka where to take a shelf. For adding, repositioning, and setting a default destination, see Adding, Repositioning and Setting Default Destinations.

Step 7: Register a Shelf

Register the Kachaka dedicated shelf you want to move into the app and give it a name that’s easy to call. To register, drive Kachaka up to the front of the shelf so it can read the barcode on the underside. Step 8: First Delivery

Now you can give your first delivery command. In the app, pick the shelf, pick the destination, and tap deliver now — Kachaka slides under the shelf, lifts it, and carries it over. For details, see Moving Furniture: Basics. Finish this run and your basic setup is complete.
